New GPS screen power cycles constantly--Help?

    Hi Folks,
I read a review on AdvRider of a fleabay 5" waterproof motorcycle Apple Car Play unit they had good luck with. So I decided to give it a try on my XR. It bluethooths to your phone and does Apple CarPlay. However, I've installed the darn thing three different ways, and it always has the same problem. It power cycles on and off constantly. Doesn't matter if I use the connection to the aux outlet, wire it directly to my batter, or to my aux lights that power up when the ignition is on. All the connections are solid, in each case. It has power, powers up, and then turns off and power cycles every minute or few seconds. I've asked the company on fleabay what they have to say, but wonder if there are any electrical wizards here who might have any insights?

The only thing I've come up with is connection issues, which is why I tried it three different ways. The lines are all good, the connections solid. Everything else electrical on my XR works just fine. Battery is new. Not a charge issue. I'm befuddled.

Oh, and I had this happen on one of these and blamed the unit, sent it back, they replaced it, and this one has the same problem. So it's not just one faulty unit.

Just heard back from the company in China with a brief message providing some sort of software update. I have to put it on an SD card and load it, evidently. This suggests they know about the problem and shipped the device anyway. Also suggests it is a software problem and not hardware. I'll close this loop here with how it turns out.

Success! I was given a softward update I had to load on a microSD card, and that did the trick. It's a good unit otherwise, only a bit more than $150 and fully waterproof https://www.ebay.com/itm/3141196091695# screen that Apple Carplays. It doesn't have a battery, but once you bluetooth to your phone it recognizes the correct date and time. I can recommend if you are savvy about doing software updates.
