Hi all, is anyone using the ride cradle with a gen 1? Do all the functions work with the navigation wheel?

I have a chinese phone cradle that I used to go round europe with and it worked fine. Would be nice to have the nav wheel connected though.

I do - I move the cradle between a gen 1 and gen 2.  I almost never used the connected app though and instead use Waze.  I'll go down and try it and report back.

Yep, it works.  I was pretty sure, but wanted to test it before I replied since I haven't used it on the gen 1 in a while other than Waze and as a charger.  I could move around the 4 apps in the Connected Ride app with the wheel and when in the nav map I could scroll in and out to zoom, etc. with the wheel.

Anytime, mate.  I am actually going to try the BMW nav app again this weekend.  I forgot how handy that scrolling around and zooming in and out can be since I can't easily do it in Waze while riding and I get lost a lot.  I am too lazy to stop, take off a glove and fiddle with Waze so I usually just ride around until I either recognize something or get more lost to the point I have to make a stop.

Consider me a convert.  Other than warning me when police are ahead (not really an issue where I like to ride, but nice coming and going via motorway) the BMW maps are much nicer and easier to read than Waze.  I also won't miss the gamification alerts, points, advertisements, etc. that take up valuable screen real estate.  I hardly ever use turn by turn so didn't even test it.   The only annoyance (and this is slight and a valid safety issue) is that you can't use the touchscreen on your phone while moving.  With Waze I would sometimes hit a really slow desolate stretch, put cruise on, remove a glove and select a different Spotify playlist or something.  Not possible with the BMW app without stopping...unless there's a setting or something to change it.  I dug around and couldn't find one.

This... I have a KTM SDGT now with the whole turn by turn shebang, but I miss camera and police warnings, the BMW navi never missed a beat. Considering getting the factory Garmin Navi mount for the KTM just so I can use my BMW navi on it  :008:

One point that has come up in this is that you struggle to do things without stopping and taking your gloves off. One of my riding friends found that if you licked your finger ( with a glove on ) you can operate a phone screen. No idea why, but it does work.
The next problem is your helmet ( I use a flip screen so it’s easy )
I know it’s not as good as a GPS, but BMW are moving away from GPS’s
