    Flat Battery

I went to take my bike out yesterday but when I went to start it the battery struggled to turn it over, the motor coughed once and then a traction control error came up with a message to say it had gone into limp mode and to get the bike to the nearest dealer. The battery then died so I never even got the engine to start. I then put it on charge last night (despite having used it regularly over the last few weeks/months (about 1000 miles in the last month) so I don't see why the battery should be flat other than battery failure). It started first go today and showed 14.3/14.4 volts and the traction control light went out as normal so I think the bike is ok. I took it for a 12 mile ride and no further errors and certainly not in limp mode.
I don't think my heated gloves draw much power so I'm guessing I'd better start saving for a Lithium battery !

Have been running a lithium on all the bikes I run, having had no dealings with lead acid for some years it was some what of a culture shock…pardon the pun when I recently bought a 1050 SpeedTriple and took the lead acid battery off the bike and replaced it with a lithium, just forgotten how heavy the LA are, only down side you’ll need a lithium battery charger.

yep, I'm saving up for battery and charger. Another positive of going lithium is the released space for more stuff under the seat !

    +1 for lithium.
My new is this one: SkyRich HJTX20CH-FP
It fits nicely in the XR and gives 72Wh and 360 CCA
