What do you guys think the best suspension settings would be for a two up, full luggage trip abroad.
    Take it easy,

    2 up with luggage  :008: :008:

If you're asking for damping, probably just leave it on road, you aren't gonna be hunting apexes fully loaded.

That's not a fair answer, my wife (passenger) loves the twisties.

I'm a new S1000xr rider - just have it for about a month now. It is a 2020. 24k miles, looks like brand new. Fresh tires, brakes, everything. In my opinion, the suspension even in Dynamic Pro setting is too soft. The bike is new to me, and I'm also coming off of 150,000 miles on a Kawasaki Concours... and the Kawi feels much more "planted" in the turns, even though it is 200lbs heavier. It is that floaty-feeling I don't care for. I have the suspension set to its lowest setting too. I really think this bike is a lot of fun, just want to get it more dialed in. I wanted to take it to the mountains next month...

On the Concours I manually set the sag and rebound.  I'm assuming that all went away with the electronics package...so am I maxed out here? How do we make it stiffer in the back?

    Thanks,
    Mark

On the Gen 2s (2020) whilst riding modes (Dynamic pro etc) affect damping, they don't affect it as much as the damping setting on it's own, tapping down on the inner button on the left switchgear will change your damping (Road and Dynamic, road is softer, dynamic for pushing on) and holding the same button will allow you to cycle between preload settings. The Gen 1 had 3 distinct preload settings, the Gen 2 done away with it, there is Min, Auto and Max. Min and max are self explanatory, Auto adjusts based on the load on the bike. Gen 2 is a much softer setup than the Gen 1 either way.

I had a similar issue. Owning a Standard Height Gen 2 XR with Dynamic ESA I learned very quickly that the bike road the best on Auto rather than Min. The only issue was I could not get my feet on the ground if the bike was completely weighted down for Sports Touring (https://www.s1000rrforum.com/threads/my-2021-xr-sport-designed-for-sport-touring.247056/page-3#post-2438168 ). With Auto Dynamic ESA the XR Gen 2 bikes raises up almost 40mm when completely loaded. The solution come from Hyperpro: https://www.s1000rrforum.com/threads/lowering-a-gen-2-xr-with-hyperpro-rear-shock-spring-20-mm.249483/ . The change was quite dramatic. The ride is much more enjoyable with less bouncing. Great for the Appalachian Mountains!
