    Connection of satnav, phone, intercom

    Evening All

Just wondering if anyone had solid advice for the best and most reliable way to connect together the following components: TFT dash, iPhone 12, Navigator VI (with BMW cradle) and Cardo Packtalk.

I have a feeling it could soon turn into a frustrating kerfuffle so would welcome any advice on your own experiences.

    Thanks!

Thought I'd have a go at this seeing that the setup is a bit different to what I had (music on satnav).
All went swimmingly with one exception, I have an Android (Samsung S10) phone and I'm not getting the option to browse artist, album, etc.
I just have the option to play from whatever was last played on the phone.
Anybody got any tips as to what I need to do to get this?
(No I'm not going to buy an iPhone  :002:)

Thanks to @Magicrat52 for the Youtube link above.

At nearly 1hr it’s long but still worth a watch, the two things I took from it are the explanation of what features you can make use of from the BMW Connected and Garmin Smartphone Link apps, the other is that the TFT will not connect to your headset if phone is also connected to headset.

    My setup consists of:
    2020 Gen.2 TFT ver. 021_104_020
Garmin Navigator VI ver. V8, software v10.00, Motorrad v16.00
    Sena SRL2 v1.0.8 (in Shoei GT-Air II)
    Samsung Galaxy S10 Android 12
So having spent several hours experimenting I’ll post my conclusions which may be of help to anyone with a similar setup.

I found no problems in connecting headset to both TFT and Nav, likewise no problems connecting phone to TFT and Nav. That is provided there is NO Bluetooth connection between phone and headset.

The implementation of the Media player on the TFT for Android phones is pants, IMO not worth pursuing.
For it to work at all during a ride, before setting off you must first ensure you have your phone media player active and set ready to whatever music you wish to listen to (which can be a play list previously created on your phone). The TFT Media player does NOT provide controlled browse access to your phone media library, put simply it will only pause/play or skip forward/back.
The only advantage TFT Media might have is the ability to share that music if you have also set up the pillion headset option.

So if you want easy access to music on your ride (I only ever want music if I’m on a lengthy péage across France), I would suggest loading your music on to a memory card on the Nav VI which then WILL let you browse your library (but then not shared to the pillion).

An added complication I have is that I also use my headset when riding another bike and use bike-to-bike with SWMBO on hers (both Triumphs) and need the phone to headset Bluetooth connection as we have the phones set for speed-dial on each other’s headsets in case we get separated beyond Bluetooth range. (Having access to the Senna phone app is another minor bonus)
So I obviously then have the dreaded phone-headset connection that causes issues with the BMW TFT, to work around this I simply have to remember to disconnect that particular link in the Bluetooth settings on my phone after starting the headset.
Or simply forgo the TFT audio connection, the Nav VI still connects fine.

Thanks @2oothless and @Magicrat52 for the youtube links. Both videos are definitely worth a watch and are very helpful. I followed the instructions and now have everything linked and working as required. The only glitch was that I couldn't initially link the Cardo to the Nav VI (no idea why), but left it for a couple of days tried again and it paired straight away. Happy days.
