    Hard to start

Gen 1, when I go to start it I hit start and it cranks and fires immediately but then sputters and dies and the next 2-5 start attempts is cranks and fires but dies the moment I let off the button. Once it finally stays running there's no problems. Wondering if there's some kind of idle air control valve or cold start injector or something not working right?

It’s either back to a dealer to plug it in,or as someone who has spent more than his fair share in 7 years of ownership one of the many things I’ve bought is a GS911.

I have a GS911, I guess I'm just not sure what to look for. I don't think there's been any codes last time I plugged in.

In that case it’s back to basics, ranging from how many miles has the bike done, when was it last serviced, has it been standing a while?,has it been doing it over several tanks of fuel or just this one?,if the 911 is showing nothing it’s highly suspicious and if all else fails it off to the dealer.

It's a 2016 and has done 14700 ish miles. It's been doing this for at least a year if not longer. It's got a fresh air filter and I'm going to do the oil in a few weeks. I daily it to work and it does it most mornings and occasionally in the afternoon going home.

One thing I was thinking is it has the factory 2015 manufacturer battery and if it's low voltage while cranking it may not have enough juice to fire the plugs. Plus idk if it's normal but it runs 15.1 volts on the highway so maybe that's indicating it's over compensating for a weak battery. I'll see if the GS911 can read voltage while I crank it.

When was the fuel filter changed..?? They don't last forever. It's not even listed in the manual as a service item. Mine was fairly well clogged after 5 years.

Thanks for the advice! I think I will do that later this summer.

I found the issue, I still had the battery made in 2015 and it was dropping to 9.4v on cranking. I swapped in a new Antigravity Lithium Ion battery and now crank at 11.6v. I will see how it does in the cold in the morning but I bet that was it.

I wouldn't leave the house until you replace the battery. Bet this is your issue, 7 years it should be ready to croak.

I had an Antigravity ATZ10 Lithium Ion Battery sitting on the shelf so as soon as I got home I swapped em out and it made a world of difference. True test will be in the morning when I leave for work when it does it the worst. Ya fairly sure this has been on its way out for a year now.

Must have read the post at least half a dozen times and it says the same thing every time  :008:, it says you have a 7 year old lead acid battery on it  :164:….and there’s me talking about a GS911…… :087:
