Installed HVMP bar ends
« on: August 07, 2016, 02:00:31 AM »
Decided for the hell of it to give them a try. Mirrors are clear at freeway speeds and no buzz in the bars. To be honest I didn't think there was an issue with buzz to begin with but these bar ends did smooth it out, my only minor gripe was blurry mirrors and now that's cured. Overall I'm happy and think it's money well spent if the above issues bug you. Nice folks too, very helpful.

Btw, Torx to remove stock ends, hex to install HVMP's. Two minutes tops unless you're Stevie Wonder then it's about a 3 minute job.

Stevie Wonder does not ride an XR, he has a RNineT.

I fitted the evotech ones, not for vibrations but for drop protection. Like you though I did notice something was smoother day to day.

It took me a minute to get used to the extra weight, it makes the steering tip in with more momentum which is strange at first but I don't think I notice it now.

I kinda like that little bit of extra steering tip, to me it's a bit more effortless.

Isn't she precious  - well of course she is.  I fitted the Evotech ends, now it's a bit odd as the pegs vibrate more than the bars. Maybe I need to search for peg ends.

OK - here is a comparison pic of the HVMP and stock bar ends:

The HVMP (on the L) are at least twice the weight and probably 75% larger (longer) than stock.

How do they work?

In a word - brilliant!   :152:

The vibes are attenuated at least 90%. You can tell the vibes are there - only just - but all the harshness is gone.

Why the hell BMW doesn't make this simple fix, I don't know....these should be standard.

If you have an XR - buy them.
