Been ringing round to get a price for the first service on my 21 plate XR. Oil, filter and brake fluid is all it needs.

Quoted £260 for Preston and Cheshire dealers.

    What's other's paid recently?..

I've never paid for a service on any of my bikes....I don't trust anyone. I do "All" my own servicing and mechanical repairs myself. Had too many "oh sorry, we missed that" moments from dealers over the years.

Pretty normal 1st service prices. I never took my XR to a dealer but previous owner had 2 receipts for 6k and 12k at 220 and 210 respectively back in 2016-2017

that, last straw for me was having them my tyres changed before they did my MOT. They put the rear tyre the wrong way around, installed the axle 5mm crossed, and they didn't adjust the chain while at it. I hate half-arsed mechanics, actually, that goes for all jobs, you are at the job, do your job, or find the one you like!

Just had my 6000 mile service done which covered oil & filters and brake fluid change. They checked it over and notified me that my tyres need changing (which I knew and had already arranged with my local tyre man for next week) and also adjusted and lubed the chain. I had a loan bike as they had to keep mine overnight for a software update which ran for over 12 hours. I paid £268 in total. With the extras just marginally cheaper than your £260 unless they were including those extras in your service (in which case I was ripped off by £8 !).

the fluids, filter and disposal charges are probably the best part of £100 and then an hour and a half labour is the rest.

Had the 'first year service' done just a couple of weeks ago which covered oil, oil filter and brake fluids.

Paid 249 euros here in the Netherlands.
