Re set service indicator question & what's needed (any updates)

Hi all - I understand from a search I've done on the site to enable me to re-set the service reminder/indicator I need a code reader - which is 'now' recommended? - the year of the bike is early 2019.

I have various OBD11 code readers but for cars and I don't think that these will do the job?

Also where is the OBD11 port on the bike situated?

I presume there will be a supplier in the UK which is where I am?

2019 XR's which are Euro 4 have standard OBD-2 (not 11 but I'm sure you're thinking of the same thing) port under the seat just above the battery, you'll need an app called Motoscan and an OBD with an ELM327 controller.

What I suggest, is get the app, you'll need it anyway, it'll also do many other service functions, and go through your readers, the app has a "compatibility check" function that should highlight if the reader you paired to (assuming you can on BT) is compatible with the functions or not.

For a service reset I think you have a good chance standard ones will work, but for full compatibility you'll want either an OBDLink MX, LX or CX or a UniCarScan UCSI-2000 or UCSI-2100

No, the only app that will do what you need for your BMW motorcycle is MotoScan

No, motoscan is specific to BMWs that's the reason you need it, generic obd reader apps MAY be able to reset the service light but not do much more.

All my readers wont be compatible unfortunately and I use iphone - not Android.  Any way around that?

Get a cheap android for scanner duty, probably can pick up some suitable old samsung for like 30 quid.

If you have a Win or Mac laptop you can install Android emulator on it and then install Motoscan into emulator and run it from there
