Is the comfort seat £400 better than the standard seat? Picking mine up next week and dealer offered discount on some parts as part of sale.

    Cheers

Anything would be better than the standard seat in my opinion. I got my gen 2 2ith about 1200 miles on the clock and the seat was like sitting on a wooden bench so I went for the wunderlich active comfort seat. Initially I was concerned that it wasn't much better but it needed a few hundred miles to 'break in'. Now I am able to ride all day on it and have done a 10 day tour in Europe on it so it was definitely worth it.

The BMW OEM Comfort seat is my GO TO seat for the Gen 2 XR. Been through the OEM "M ", Sargent, Reg Wunderlich & Corbin (used). High Wunderlich is too tall for me.

    Best,

Yep, I need a new seat.  After last weekend, my butt was not happy... all-day rides, riding to and from the event (400 miles)... I have a Sargent LOW seat on my Concours, and although it is hard, we can ride all day long.  The back seat section for the wife is so much better, too.  She hates the XR (as a passenger) so she'll be riding the other bike, but I need something better for me. Does the 20,21,22,23 seats all fit, or do I need to look for 2020 specific?  Would love to find a used seat to buy...

Went a similar route with my Gen1,there is a seat thread on here somewhere…but the shortened version, even though my bike was brand new started with the HP seat version and moved on from there, had another 3 seats actually before finding a custom seat that fitted the bill, but for anyone thinking of planning a similar route, what I would add to the complication are rearsets be the bike Gen1 or 2, I’ve spent a tad more than most getting their bike how they wanted but rearsets were that magic solution to a problem I never knew I had, the best mod I’ve ever done but ideally needs to be worked in conjunction with a preferred seat.

Same here; I have a Concours 14 also that I made a custom/ modified Sargent seat with air pillows, memory foam & leather seat cover. I'll probably try the air pillows & memory foam as I already have the Sargent Low on my XR.

I recently purchased a 2nd hand "brand new in the box, never fitted" comfort seat for my Gen 2. I've found a huge difference from the standard item - although my bike is a factory lowered model that comes with the low seat. Easily the most uncomfortable seat ever on a bike. EVER !

The (optional and at no extra cost) high seat I have has 10mm more padding than the comfort seat  :001:

840mm seat height standard, 846mm? M-sport, 850mm comfort, 860mm high. True the comfort has apparently a nicer finish but I assume they all use the same type of foam layers inside
