Hello all, for the folks who opted for a full exhaust that didn't do a tune whether custom or off the shelf like BT's
can you provide a long term review? I know this had to be discussed somewhere here just can't find it??

    Gen-1 or Gen-2..??

I have a Gen-1 and I initially fitted full Arrow headers, ran if for a couple of weeks with no tune....ran like a pig down low, too lean....up high it wasn't too bad. I then fitted a Rapid Bike Evo and it transformed the bike.

    Smithy.
When I die, I want to go peacefully in my sleep like my Grandfather....not screaming like the passengers in his car..!

Gen 1 and Gen 2 are very different answers. There is also just the issue of the average user having no idea how good (lean/rich) their tune is other than their poorly calibrated butt dyno.

Yea asking about gen 2. And yep exactly why trying to research answers before pulling the trigger on headers. Don’t want to be unknowingly doing damage to the engine.  :002:

If I understand correctly the Gen 2 XR come with a wideband O2 sensor fitted to the stock exhaust. So theoretically that should be able to compensate for adding an exhaust, but it will 'tune' to the BMW set targets (remember that 13:1 is the same no matter what pipe is fitted). Then the question becomes can it be improved with as tune, and the likely answer is yes.

If you have a bog stock BM sold from standard it will a have TUV approved fuel map,so the reality is it will have a hole in the fuel where they do fuel test,so it’s like sitting a test when you already know the question.

If you add headers and end pipe, you need a new fuel map, otherwise there’s little point in fitting it as you will still have a TUV approved hole in the fuel map,the O2 sensor just dances around the hole in the fuel map.

I'm just trying to figure out what direction to go...An off the shelf tune (BrenTune) on a stock bike or getting a pipe...can't do both for $$$ reasons... guess the better bang for the buck would be stage 1 Off The Shelf tune from BT ??
