    2023 XR ECU tune problems

Just recently purchased a ECU tune from BHP UK for my 2023 XR. Speaking with them over the phone they've done many 2nd gen XR tunes but for some reason they are having a hard time with the data sent from my 2023.  They're saying it's different format from previous years and he'll have to contact BMW or possible I'll have to send my ECU in to be decoded.  Sucks because I just put some headers and some trick M rearsets on that I want to try but I'm afraid of running the bike hard with stock tune and no cat.
Anyone here have a 2023 XR that's been tuned either by Bren or another 3rd party?  If so, was there any problems with the flash/tune?  Thanks!

I have a tune done by BHP UK but it’s on a 21 M-Sport, I didn’t have any problems with the file I sent them at all, maybe there is some differences on a 23 bike?

I’m having a service done in a few weeks and I need to to talk BHP because I’m sure they said be careful if there is a software update to the bike that could make my map redundant!

I’ll ask about your problem and see what they say it maybe my bike could be upgraded to what you have!

The bad news when delving into aftermarket maps, not only have to be carefull about what you have already been warned about they feel different depending on what you have blown in,I have a Rexxer map blown into my K1200r Sport now in fairness it runs quite well, but I had it done years ago when Power Commander didn’t do one for such, but given the choice I’ll take a PC every time, they come with a custom map but I’ve always installed one then taken it to my local tuner and had a cutom map done to go with what ever exhaust system I’ve fitted.

My 22 is also done by bhpuk, and they had a similar issue. Being the software having a different coding from the 21. It took some days, but they managed to tune it eventually.

I guess bmw doesn't like that people tweak/tinker with the ecu. Hence they make it more difficult to be decoded.

Just curious how this works seeing you're in the states and BHP UK is in UK, did you have to mail them your ECU?

He said sending my ECU would be a possibility but he wanted me to give him a couple weeks to see if he can acquire the ECU version first before I send it off to them.  It's basically the same process as Brentune.  They actually use the same branded ECU flasher and MyGenius program.
I ended up sending their flash unit back to BHP UK.  They seem like nice guys and customer service was prompt but I didn't want to wait a few weeks to be able to ride my bike safely again.  I went and ordered a Brentune Stage 1 and 2 since they said they can tune a 2023 version no problem.  You'll probably be fine using BHP UK if you have a 2022 and prior version XR.
