Quadlock with vibration dampener - still knackered my iPhone

Sorry if this is old hat guys.....
Just back from a stunning few days in Wales on a solo tour. I recently fitted a Quadlock to the centre of the h bars WITH a vibe dampener.
On arriving at my penultimate b & b, went to take some snaps and had the 'well reported' shaky camera syndrome!!

Very disappointed with Quadlock's response they will accept a return, but as soon as I asked for compensation.... zilch. I also found it very strange that they don't reference the XR as (potentially) causing problems with camera phones on their website??

This is on a 2018 Gen 1. Phone is iPhone XR.
I also have the BMW Nav6, BUT this has been VERY temperamental - with flickering map and 'losing' the bike icon during navigation. Ironically this is worse on the RT than the XR - but hugely annoying, hence I wanted to use Google maps, which was brilliant.
    So, questions:
    1. Will the Wunderlich connected cradle work with the sat nav 'light' cradle - I.e. just clip in, not lock in ?
    2. Am I being daft expecting Quadlock to be more responsive/helpful?

In conclusion....yes the phone is old and due for replacing (probably overdue) and I may end up using it only for navigation in future, in which case I'll get a data only sim and I may reluctantly continue using the Quadlock – BUT seems it bit inelegant having to have two phones and a bloody expensive Sat Nav too.
    Sorry for rambling on……
Ps ....Oh....and the mini magnet fix from an old pair of earphone's did work, just looks a bit naff!!

I think you have been/are naive if you expect Quadlock to compensate you for your phone.

There are two unknowns to them.
The extent of vibrations from your particulare bike
The susceptibiltity of your phone - to vibrations.

They produce an item which reduces vibrations - it is up to each purchaser to asses if that fits their own requirement.

I think any cliam is groundless.

I've been using a quadlock with vibration damper on my '17 for years without issue....but I have been using Samsung not an iPhone..

I haven't read a report about this camera issue yet that I can recall that wasn't an iPhone.  I have used 2 Galaxies with the Connected Ride Cradle (an S20+ and an S23+) and haven't had a problem yet and the cradle has no vibration damping and is kind of notorious for knackering iPhones.

No experience with Gen 1 XR.

With Gen 2 a QuadLock with Dampener is of no use with an iPhone no matter where you mount it. Plan on getting your iPhone fixed for around $80 at a genius bar or purchasing a new phone unless you desire pictures in portrait.

QuadLock with Dampener does protect the Audio connection/speaker on the Valentine 1 Radar detector.

My original point stands..... numerous bikes mentioned on the Quadlock website:
"The motorcycles listed have been known to cause vibration damage to the optical image stabilisation of smartphones when mounted, however, even if your bike is not listed, Quad Lock recommends the use of our Vibration Dampener for complete confidence."

    So... NO XR mentioned
AND I did buy and fit Vibe dampener..........and I DID have complete confidence....... UNTIL the effing thing knackered my phone.

Obviously (IMHO) the product is NOT fit for purpose

Dang...figures.. as soon as I mention something I knackered my S23+.  Although, it's not the camera, but the vibration motor.  No more vibrating or haptic feedback...  Will see if I can get used to it as it is.  If not, I guess I'll fix/replace it and use my old phone for nav.  Will have to fiddle around with seeing if I can connect old phone to cradle for wonderwheel nav usage and then a different phone for audio, etc. via Cardo AND the bike TFT.  Kinda sounds like it's not going to work the way I want it and/or be a giant hassle.  :001:
