    Gen-1 or Gen-2..??

The main issue with "lowered footpegs" is lack of ground clearance, even the stock pegs drag on the ground at relatively modest lean angles....and the inability to adjust the gear lever and foot brake lever enough to compensate for the change in height.

Its a Gen 1 mate.  Going touring Spain september and my knees aint what they were. Either try the lowered pegs or its GS time  :110: :008:

About to pull the pin on a set of MFW varios. Had them on my Ducati 1098 which made it more bearable.

I have size 13 feet so will still be ok for the gear and brake pedal  :008:   I can sit on the pillion seat and ride to give my knees a rest  :008:

Hi I'm new to the XR but I find it hard to believe you can't adjust the gear and brake pedal, I thought I saw a threaded rod which could be adjusted from the gear pedal to something behind a part of the bike, but as I say am the new boy here so shoot me if you want to!

Gear lever is easily adjusted, Simply undo the top nut of shift shaft, undo the torx holding the rod end to the lever, and go in 180° increments, can't remember which way is which but you'll quickly figure out, I found there to be plenty enough threads to adjust to any reasonable height. You can also undo the nut near the shift sensor and twist the whole thing but it's a bitch to get at, this method is easier.

Brake lever you can really only adjust it to be further down, as there is a physical stop on the top. You can similarly undo the rod end at the back of the brake lever and screw it in a few turns to lower the pedal, but that adjustment is mainly for taking out slack from the lever, this is a sort of half bodge kind of like making your clutch cable really loose to get the lever to be closer. Wouldn't recommend adjusting it long ways this way.
