Hey, so I get the same if I have my tank bag on the bike from time to time.
To me it's a signal issue, which is sort of a curse and a blessing at the same time. I've found if I take the key out of my top jacket and dangle it over the dash and re start the bike all good and on we go.
The good side is if your not right next to the bike it will not start, so less chance of someone starting the bike, unlike my car which I seem to be able to open the boot from 50 feet away when I'm in the office and don't see the boot pop open

On the battery front, I'd have my bike about a week and if the key was not over the dash it would not start at all, my BMW dealer changed the battery for a BMW one, that fixed. The deal did say in the factory they just put cheap ones in. How true that is not a clue.
I'd say get the battery changed in the key.
