    The Vibes have got me.

Strange one this as i already have had the bike for nearly 3 weeks and did a 600 mile weekend with the mrs and the bike was lovely, the suspension making the seat really comfortable, amazing when iv'e not had a lot of bikes this good when new let alone 7 yrs old,so i went out for a ride last sunday and almost immeadiately my hands were numb and i couldn't use the controls properly, broke the ride down into 3 parts but the vibes through the bars were so bad i had to admit defeat and go home then it started raining so was even worse when you haven't got proper control of the bike,i knew when i picked it up it had the well known solution of the evotech heavier bar weights and was vibe free, but i have to say the bmw dealership i bought it from have been brilliant, they are coming to fetch it in a van and hopefully sort it,i am really hopeful they will find the problem as it was vibe free when i first had it. It took 2 days for my right hand to feel normal again so really hope there is a fix.

Thanks for the reply, just been out to the garage to check, there is only one weight on both sides of the wheels so did not need much weight to balance but unfortunately none are missing.

Unlikely but possible..  :084: check the front wheel bearings.

My brother's 2016 with 25k miles on the clock, failed while we were in France last week. It started with some pretty bad vibration.

We rode side by side and over the intercom he asked if I was feeling anything, just in case it was the tarmac, but mine was silky smooth. Not too many miles later and it got too bad, we pulled up and a quick check told us the bearings had gone.

Maybe didn't feel the start of it because we were riding some pretty nadgery, bumpy mountain roads.

Thanks, yes definitely possible it's only done 9300 miles but still 7yrs old and you don't know how previous owner had treated it,but sadly went out and got the mrs to push down on the rack spun the front wheel and checked for sideways play, all good,i want it to be one of these suggestions because knowing my luck they won't be able to find the cause,so long as it vibes for them on the test ride[i know it will because my hand still isn't right]

You need the heavy bar ends, after that its fund the cheapest solution to sort the exhaust out,I actually bought a secondhand set of Akra headers and just had to go with any endcan I could get my hands on,but regardless the bike will need to go too a Dyno, then you will have a different animal on your hands.

I also recommend checking the wheel bearings (This got me last year) and heavy bar ends.  I have also noticed how hard I grip the bars has a direct impact on vibes and hand numbness.  When I am gripping tight, on cold days to get the benefit of the heaters or when I am a bit stressed, I notice the vibes cause numbness.  I would recommend to try and stay aware of your grip tightness and try to keep it relaxed.

As in my first post it already has the heavier bar end weights and it was fine [no vibes at all] in the first 2 weeks of my ownership then the vibes started.

Just my humble opinion, but here goes....I had vibrations on my '17 model from new, I fitted Evotech heavy bar end weights, much better but still not great. Several months later I fitted Arrow SS headers and retorqued the engine mount bolts to the frame...the vibes all but disappeared....The stock headers are "Bolted solid" to the cylinder head and somewhat sliding mount on the lower frame behind the engine, I believe most of the engine vibrations are transfered from the engine to exhaust and back to the frame. The new headers are just spring mounted and a much better rubber mounted sliding mount underneath so very few if any vibrations are transferred, I also believe retorquing the engine mounts has helped destress the frame....I just loosened all the mount bolts, let the frame relax overnight, then retorqued them to 60nm the following day. There were a couple of bolts which were much tighter than 60nm and a couple much looser. :027:

Just my experience for what it's worth. :034:

I hope the shop will be re-torqueing all the engine mounts when they come and get it next week.
