I would like to fit a Side Stand Extension Plate for my Gen 2 XR. I can only find Side Stand Extension Plate for a Gen 1 in my country.

Now my questions are. Is there a difference on the size of the foot of the side stand of the Gen 1 and the Gen 2?
Will the Side Stand Extension Plate for a Gen 1 fit the Gen 2?

now there is a whole new question, why are they different. What was such a change between gen 1 and gen 2, that they needed to change the side stand?

I keep the same rectangle of thin (circa 1.25mm) stainless steel in the storage area under the seat that I have used on all my bikes for the past 25 years.  Being so thin it takes up very little volume, works perfectly to spread load when required with soft ground, and cost me nothing.  It is actually from the side of a 1960s NEC toaster that my parents gave me!

They're a completely different bike, almost nothing is the same, different frame, different engine, different tupperware etc....the only commonality between them is basically the BMW badges and hand guards.
