Ok, to all XR owners, what's wrong with this, or is there anything wrong? Both sides are adjusted equal with '4' lines at the adjustment bolt.

Is this normal, how does your look.

Do not use the lines on the swingarm to align the wheel, they're almost never right....us a proper alignment tool like the one in the link below.

Could also be a poorly made sprocket.

Ok, make sense, I was just looking at alignment tools. Didn't know that lines on swingarm are not straight.

I am still curious, even if it was to one side, which that what it seems like. There was still divet or like a defect in sprocket where it wasn't touching. Very weird.

Ok, my finding on chain alignment tool for 2020+ S1000XR, NO GOOD.

Let me explain why and I'm including pictures on why. I really have tried to use this tool anyway possible.

The inside of the sprocket has a "Groove" and it's so close to the chain that it doesn't allow chain tool to sit properly. I have tried to revert the tool and use it the other way, but it doesn't work either, it just points the other way. Trust me I have tried many different ways, closer, farther, on corner, as close to the chain, it just DOESN'T work. I would rather trust swing arm lines than this tool *Only specific for 2020+ S1000XR, I don't know of the other BMW motorcycle, such as RR or R, just because the sprocket has groove on the inside and it will not let chain tool sit flush.

    Keep that in mind.

This is perfect alignment tool for Gen2 compared to the other one I posted with a stick, because of how the rear sprocket is made.

    Very Sweet!
Those laser things are a bit pricey.
That is going to have to be a birthday or X-Mas present for me...

I think yall are over worrying about your chain alignment lol... Just line up the marks, use a vernier if you're anal about it and ride the damn thing, worked for me well enough and my chains on the XR done about 20k each with a very loose cleaning schedule...   :008: :008:

True. The only reason why I bought it cause, if you saw my first post, it was "eating" or "sitting" on on sprocket weird, even tho I has it on the same lines on both sides. Now my right is a bit more than the left, looks good to me now. I only bought it because I know I will be changing more chains in near future, I have several friends that usually come over to my house to do any sort of work.

I have that one too. Looks like you have the L version (line) like me. They also have a slightly cheaper D (dot)version, which only provides a laser dot. The Line one is easier in use as it throws a laser line over the chain.  When you adjust the chain the line remains visible, the dot would move away. To me worth the money, much easier to set tension while keeping it aligned. Btw the thing is tiny, I attached a cord to it so it doesn't get lost.
