    Hi BMW fam!
I'm new here and to the bmw motorcycles world. I have just bought a 2018 S1000XR triple black  :018:
the bike was sitting for few months and the battery was flat. I fitted a new battery and i sent the bike to the mechanic today to get it ready for registration. apparently the traction control light stays on and only abs light goes off. i have tried to switch the traction control and abs on and off but no hope, traction light stayed on. the mechanic plugged it to the computer and showed the code: 3A11B0 (Rear wheel speed signal). I am not sure if there's a way to reset or it is the sensor! I would appreciate any experienced help  :034:

Probably a faulty sensor or the wiring to it is not well. Also check the reluctor ring for damage or corrosion.

    Smithy.

i checked the ring and it looked good, must be the sensor or an electrical issue after changing the battery  :155:

how big is the job to change the sensor?

Can't imagine the rear being bad, I had to replace my front one after tyre shop broke it and it was just a matter of unclipping, following to plug, unplug, plug the new one in, job done. Mine was clearly damaged but your might be a problem upstream. I'd see if swapping the front sensor for the rear moves the problem around maybe?

thinking of doing that before buying the part as bmw here don't return electrical parts even if you don't end up using them!
but don't you think they have different wiring length?  :187:

Shouldn't be it's the exact same part number for both the front and rear.

Spacing sensor to disc?  I would need to search again but believe it should be within 0.8 - 1.2mm

I have a feeling that's actually the problem, I bought the sensor today and my mechanic fitted it in and the code was cleared! but I've noticed that the spacing was bigger when the faulty one was on.

There's typically a shim washer between sensor and mount which should be sized to give the correct gap.

I have an update, I just picked the bike up from the mechanic and the light still constantly on, it blinks for a little every now and then but goes back ON!! even though the mechanic told me he plugged it to the obd and it showed no fault and he did a reset after fitting in the sensor! have i been ripped off? i was charged an hour and a half for fitting labor!
