OEM top case rack/grill

Hi.

I have a question about the OEM top case. I am traveling a lot on longer tours and I would need a rack/grill that goes on top of the top case. I know it looks ugly, but I need it nevertheless. It seems BMW has no such thing available so I was looking at GIVI S150, universal top case rack (https://www.givi.it/givi-products/motorcycle-and-scooter-accessories/additional-luggage-solutions/s150).

Does someone have this already installed on their OEM top case and what is your opinion on it? I cannot get any info on the web if the top case will actually take this kind of load or it will do some damage to it.

Any other ideas or opinions/options are welcome. Thanks in advance.

Hi MJ79, I have no experience with the set up you refer to but I do use a Givi V47 top box with a rack fitted to it which works for me, I got an adaptor plate from ebay for £35 that fits onto the BMW rack. The Givi box will take more luggage than the BMW one.

Thanks for the response. I know the setup for Givi:) I had the V56 (with the additional rack) on my previous XR but now I got the new XR (gen 2) with the OEM top box. That is why I was hopping the same can be done for the OEM top box, so I don't have to sell it and by Givi:)

You could probably fit that rack to any top case in production.

Useful for light/bulky stuff from the supermarket.  Or - additional kit if you have a pillion and the aerodynamics aren't going to take a hit.
