I created a vibration disaster while testing....

Well let me share with you my experience. I have a 2023 S1000XR TE SPORT. Now I have a very slight vibration on the handlebars at about 125 km/h and at high speed. I got myself some brass bar ends from a old BMW and fitted/added them on them on the outside of the hand guards. Well I went for a ride on Saturday and man oooo man did I had the mother of all vibrations on the handles. It was so bad that after riding 60 km my hands was tinkling after I stopped for a few minutes. I rode back home and took the brass bar ends off. Sunday ride out I decided that the vibration was so slightly that I could live with it.

Thinking about it. The Gen 1 had vibration that could be fixed with heavier bar ends, however the Gen 2 had a change in handle bar length which sorted the high frequency resonance in the bars out. My experiment showed me that adding weight to the bar ends bring the high frequency resonance back into the handle bars.

My next is I am trying to find out what cause the vibration on the right pillion footrest. My wife say it is very bad in so that she can not keep her foot on the footrest, she have to lift it a little. It comes at 137 km/h and go at 139/140 km/h and it seems it is refs connected. The exhaust etc is stock standard. Any ideas out there?

I purchased a set of Evotechs due to one of the OEM's backed itself out and sailed into the woods to be lost forever
wasn't sure if the dealer was going to warranty it and I had a bunch of rides coming up and couldnt wait for them to make up their minds,, they did eventually.

The evotechs were the stacked type one inner and outer weight sandwiching the hand guard end. Thought this would lessen the almost non existent vibes on the gen 2 but did the opposite as you are experiencing. with mine the vibes got so bad that it backed out the left switch gear set screw

Goin to reinstall the OEM and see if it makes a difference...... crossing fingers, will report back

The OEM set up on the Gen 2 handlebars was designed to reduce vibrations. The only thing I added to reduce it further were the EvoTech Handlebar Protectors (https://evotech-performance.com/products/ep-bmw-s-1000-xr-te-hand-guard-protectors-2020-onwards ). They also assist in protecting the bike from a drop in a stationary position. Please do not ask how I know.

This is why I gravitated to the Evotech bar ends as replacements for that added protection from stationary drops..thought they were heavy enough??
but man It was a step backwards with Vibe control
may look into those anyway would like t retain that extra protection when I switch back to the stock ends

OEM's are back on and sure does a better job with vibe mitigation compared to the Evo-techs

How odd. I’ve had the exact opposite experience. I put them on and it’s calmed down the high frequency buzz that causes the dreaded numb fingers. I took them off just last week to see what the stock bar ends are like - buzz came straight back.
Maybe I’m more sensitive to certain frequencies but I found the Evotech bar ends to be a great improvement.

No two bikes are exactly the same, on my Gen-1 I found fitting Evotech bar weights and undoing the engine mount bolts and letting the frame "relax" overnight and then torquing them to the correct torque helped greatly....a couple of the bolts were horrendously tight and one other was loose from the factory....must have been a Friday bike.

I also found fitting full Arrow headers all but made the vibrations disappear altogether, the stock headers are solidly mounted to the cyl head and I believe the exhaust transfers engine vibration to the frame via the lower/underslung exhaust mount....proper headers are loosly mounted to the cyl head via springs so vibration transfer is minimal...my '17 model is now as smooth as a baby's bum....(not that I go around feeling baby's bums :164:).

    Smithy.
When I die, I want to go peacefully in my sleep like my Grandfather....not screaming like the passengers in his car..!

    Agree with Smithy...

Do not know about the Baby's Bums though
