What can I do about this? Do they even sell this rubber piece?

I don't want any dust or water getting into it.

I assume it's just a simple load cell so actual movement is microscopic, if you can slide the boot down without it falling apart I would get some red rubber grease behind it, should keep damp and dust at bay.

I would (and will) put vaseline onto it. In your case too late but undo the bottom end, put something like heatshrink tubing over it if that is available in that size. Otherwise just anything to keep it out of the sun and elements. Just make sure there's enough spacing wrt the frame.

Will do guys. Thanks for advice. I was going to buy new one and than make preventative measures, but it's not available looks like.

Now you all know what you all will be looking at after 3 yrs or 18k miles. I guess engine heat or sun done that.

Not knowing the exact type of "rubber" used I would not recommend Vaseline/petroleum grease, it can be damaging to some types. Check it out with your favourite search app.

Same happened on mine, but I was lucky and got the entire QS unit replaced under warranty because it died.
I also noticed same cracks developing on the front headlight connectors. Looks like they are using some cheap rubber…

I made post in here somewhere about headlight connector too, at 12k miles it was done.  :008:
