Hello. Ive never bothered fitting the side panniers since i bought the bike, but decided to put them on whilst im tidying the garage, and they wont go on. I fitted a full akrapovic system to the bike and the can sits too far up. Anyone come across this and if so, what was your remedy, besides selling the panniers, after searching for ages to get a matching topbox and finding one for a good price  :003: other than that, im stumped.

I have a full Akrapovic system on my XR and the panniers fit fine.

I think that's the issue then.  I don't have an Akra on my gen 1, but if memory serves the hanger is slightly different on the XR can vs. the R can and that slight difference allows it to clear the panniers.

I will see if i add a bracket to adjust. If it doesnt work ill sell the pannier set rather than the can.  :002:

R and XR cans exit the cat/headers at different angles, R is steeper, hence why you can't fit the panniers on the XR...it's "NOT" the hanger causing the issue.
