Obd2 reader and 10 to round 16 plug

I’ve got an obd2 scanner with a oblong 16 pin plug. There’s a 16 pin to a round 10 pin bmw adaptor on eBay. Will this work to reset my s1000xr service light or might in mess up the electrics?! Looking forward to comments

It depends on what year your bike is David. Early gen 1 have the round plug and therefore need the adapter. Later bikes have the generic 'oblong' port, the same as most cars have, so you can plug straight in.

Check under your seat as to which one you have... :028:

Hey again, as long as it's ELM357 compatible it'll do the majority of the functions motoscan can, the adapter plug works just fine, from what I recall you have a 2015 and they use the round plug (Euro 3) then from 2017 onwards (Euro 4) they move to just the standard OBD2 port, I've got and adapter and can show you how it all works with motoscan if you're still coming up to meet us on Saturday(?).

:028: Closer to 10 would be better, I'm collecting some parts from BMW in York and won't be back until just before 10.. although, if I can get away from work early Friday, I might pick the parts up Friday evening.. this depends on Traffic  :084:

Either way, my partner Christine will be in, you'll get a coffee but she won't be doing the butties..  :015: that's my job..  :169:  :001:
