Top box lock - part missing

Afternoon all, I wonder if anybody could help me please ? I’ve bought a 2nd hand 30 litre top box for my 2019 Gen 1. The handles/locking parts were all damaged but I’ve managed to repair it all. There seems to be a part missing ? Where you put the silver lock cylinder in, it looks like there’s supposed to be a separate black sleeve that the lock cylinder slides into ? At the moment it’s working exactly as it’s supposed to with the key BUT the lock cylinder has a 2mm gap all the way around it and the cylinder just comes straight out as there’s nothing holding it in place ? I also have a 49 litre box and I can see there’s a separate black tube/sleeve that the lock cylinder goes into.

Has anybody any idea what this part is and/or where I can get one please ? Or has anybody got a damaged top box I could salvage the part off ?

    Many thanks
    Rob

Search google images and also Youtube - you will probably get a better idea as most people change lock wafers only once per bike at most and may or may not remember/catalog the process.

Plenty of youtubers have done that work for us.

Be wary of some youtubers who (on the 2020> panniers) was advocating a method which meant that the barrels couldn't be removed without major surgery to each pannier.   Something to do with the final wafer.

I had to take both panniers apart completely to recode the locks (dealer said the new shape panniers cannot be recoded). It was a mission! The mechanism that controls opening the lid and undoing the handle is relatively complex. The lock mechanism slides into a black plastic barrel - this part has the printed instructions you see on the outside of the case (open, release etc.)
The inner part is a separate part to the outer black plastic barrel and the fit is definitely tight as the final locking wafer needs to be kept pressed in and there is no clearance around the lock barrel. I fear you will not be able to get such a part on its own from BMW and may have to buy the entire bottom half of the topcase.

Attached is what the inside of the pannier looks like when reassembled. Everything has to be in a specific alignment for it all to work properly, which took a few goes to get right! Test it all works before attempting reassembly is my tip (don’t ask me how I know).

Thanks all, this is the part that I need. It’s like a loose black sleeve that the lock cylinder slides into ?

Yes, exactly. I think there are 4 parts in total that screw the lock to the mounting plate - outer shell, inner circular sleeve, then a couple of parts that control the case opening and lever release.

All sorted thanks guys. Contacted various BMW dealerships and parts places and then stumbled across Motorworks. They had the part I needed ( in the centre of this picture , but I had to buy all 3 items, the lock cylinder , the central lock sleeve and the rear spring loaded rear lock plate ………..all 3 items for £10 plus £3 postage !!!! Absolutely made up with that as the locylinders alone are usually over £20 !! Spoke to Jamie and Martin at Motorworks , both highly recommended.
