Got the expected letter re footpeg recall.

Retaining clips are coming out, I've heard some have lost 1 while riding!

    Is this for Gen2?

I can't remember which you have but a quick glance at some posts suggest Gen2...

Any idea what they do to fix it? I can't imagine they have varied the pin and circlip method much over the years.

I thought there was talk of this failure on Gen1 too a while back, as I occasionally check mine to make sure there's nothing amiss... :084:

Just did a VIN search for my Gen 2 and didn't have a recall.

I had mine replaced as a recall on my gen 2. It seems this a a more generic issue as RS and GS models are also being recalled for this.

Interesting.  Next time I am at the dealer I will ask about it.

Dealer changed mine a few weeks ago while I had it in for its first mot. Tech reckoned he'd seen a few clips missing in the past. I was told the originals used a stainless steel and not too "springy", replacements are different material, I'm guessing no longer stainless.

I just did the first service on mine but had my local guy do it as the dealer here charges outrageous prices.

Interesting to see this. I had an RS 1250 and the circlips were mysteriously missing from the footpegs. They are very thin, thinner than the ones you typically buy ( guess how I know that ? ) So I bought them from a dealer. Obviously there was an issue with them!

I actually lost one of the circlips of my passenger footpeg.
Fortunately i noticed it a month ago when sitting next to the bike.
That would have been an expensive replacement if i lost a billet piece. yikes!

Replaced all circlips with a stainless external type that embraces the full diameter of the shaft rather than the "type e circlips" that BMW uses.

Yeah, MOT is an annual government test (not a service) that's legally required here in the UK for vehicles over 3 years old.
BMW dealer servicing is perhaps a bit more reasonable in the UK compared to USA, but still not the cheapest.
