Trading in my XR for a K1300S...what?

I know some will think me crazy and they are right. I'm trading in my XR, that I have loved, on a gorgeous K1300S HP that I simply must own before I die. I change bikes every year or two, and it's time. The XR has been a wonderful steed. This community has been awesome and supportive. Thank you all, and best wishes. I may very well own an XR again, as it is my favorite of all I've had.

We only get one bite at this apple, so we need to make the most of it...  Enjoy the new bike.

The very best of luck had my XR from new in 2016 and my K1200r Sport from 09,both with Akra headers well in fact the K is a full Akra system both have Wilber’s Sus,biggest down side with the K are secondhand spares, best of luck trying to pick a winner out of those two.

Thanks. You can't bat 1,000 on bike choices but for those of us who regularly rotate bikes that's not an issue. I've been dabbling in the Adv realm a bit and found that while I like aspects of them, what I truly love about my bikes is power. Comfortable enough to ride long distance, not an R1, but power. That's why the XR was such a winner. I think that's why I will enjoy the K13S. Even more power! I like shaft drives too.

I traded a K1300R in to buy my previous XR, there is a lot about that bike that I still miss....

    Enjoy!

Just recently gone the other way. The XR is taking some getting used, really miss the miss the torque of the 1300S, 50 mph in top and just wind it on and it goes and goes and keeps going.

Isn't it crazy that a bike as powerful and refined as the XR, can still leave you wanting in a few areas like torque. I think it says more about the abundance of great bikes and great engines than it does about the deficiencies of any particular bike. I mean, if KTM to my eyes wasn't the ugliest thing ever put on two wheels, there is no doubt that big twin is a monstrous winner. And the Ducati V4 is a very nice powerplant.

Enjoy your XR! It doesn't have to be the best at everything, you just have to like riding the darn thing. That's where I've gotten to.

I have owned both the 1300S and the 1300r. I moved to the XR as it is so much more comfortable for me.. apart from the seat height for my 5ft 11" to try and cope with. I am working on that one. Initial impression of the XR to me is how nanny state the throttle response is and all the electronic safety controls. I am working on that as well. The thing you will love on the 1300's is the absolutely awesome power and torque. You control it, not electronics. Pull away from a junction in 3rd gear by mistake... no problem...there is that much torque. Absolutely mental things and a proper laugh to ride. Huge grin all the time and sound amazing with an open can on, along with the flame throwing out of the end. The handling is superb as well. I have had back, hip & neck operations, so they had to go cos of the riding position. A sad day indeed.

You're not crazy! I know the K1300S well, having traded a black 2014 for the XR I now have, and before that another K13S, a gray 2009. These bikes are like nothing else, just the definition of fast (extremely!) and stable cruising. It is unfortunate that BMW did/could not provide them with more technology at the time (specially cruise control).
Good luck with it, you will love it!
