Fuel Gas Tank cover not seating correctly

Hello everyone I am new here and hope all is well. I am having some troubles getting the fuel tank cover fairing to seat properly after replacing the air filter on my 2021 S1000XR. I can get the top clipped in and middle clipped in fine. However I cant get the two bottom clips seated and the bottom two screw holes are not aligning with the clips they are sitting to high and not lining up with screw holes. It feels like the fuel tank is blocking it from being pushed down all the way into clips and aligning with bottom two holes. I took off both side fairing and screwing in all screws with some play so I could move fairing around not yet fully tight. However I still cannot get fuel tank cover to seat properly ;( Anyone else have troubles getting fuel tank cover clipped and screwed in properly? Am I missing some trick to it?

There is probably a hose or cable dislodged and preventing seating.

I checked all the cables/hoses on top side and it looks like the fuel tank is mounted flush with rubber grommets on the front and back. Its like the lower holes are too low and fairing is hitting the fuel tank. Didn't pay enough attention removing it so not sure if it was not aligning in the first place.
