Wrong suspension/spring setting in Dynamic ESA
« on: January 28, 2017, 01:32:38 PM »
Hi
I just bought S1000XR standard version with low seat ( 820mm ). No low suspension model available in my country Malaysia. My height is 5'4 & i can only get either one of  ball of my feet on the floor.

When i ride with pillion + pannier/box , i just used "one helmet" as a suspension/spring setting instead of "two helmet" setting.

Is there any impact on the long run

Cheers

Here I can't understand the Marketing logic of BMW. There are many countries where the lowered suspension model would sell well and they simply don't put them available?
My dealer had one plus the good price of a 2016 it is a perfect fit for me.

Hi if you put lowering kit BMW 1000 XR into eBay you will buy the kit to do the job and you can then use all settings just remember what ever you lower on spring you have to do the same with your forks or will ride like sh#t  :211:

Keep the button marked with a spring pressed for a little while and all will be revealed ( assuming that you have a Sport SE with the esa etc )

Hi Meurig....If you have D-ESA.....you "should" have "all" the suspension settings, as mentioned by Redrick, hold the "spring" button down and you'll see the little helmet start flashing on the screen, hold the button longer and it should change, takes a few seconds for the system to adjust the pre-load to suit....it's in the owners manual too :034:

There's three pre-load settings, rider....rider with luggage....rider with pillion and luggage.....and you can then select "Road" or "D-ESA" in each of those. Loving the suspension capability on this bike...it's absolutely awesome. :047:

If we're just commuting to work etc we can run in "Road" mode and she's nice and plush for an easy stress-free, smooth ride ...come the weekend and with the little missus on the back, push a button and it's sorted...or if you're up for a bit of fun, adjust things to suit the road/riding conditions at the press of a couple of buttons...brilliant....on my other bikes I'd often be on my hands & knees several times... swearing, scraping knuckles and breaking fingers, adjusting spring/pre-load and then adjusting/re-adjusting rebound/compression settings.. and often still not get it how I'd like it..! This D-ESA system is worth it's weight in rocking horse manure.. :020:

Cheers,
Smithy.
